I work with clients who are all different sizes and shapes. Each client has their own obstacles when finding clothes. It might be their shape or they are self conscious about a certain body part.Whatever it is, it’s frustrating for the client. I always try to make the process of finding clothes easy. I also like to show my clients that there are clothes out there for everyone.
I recently worked with a woman who was 6ft, and had an inseam of 33″. Clothes are made for tall people, I was really excited, however my client had struggled for so long finding clothes that woud flatter her, she didn’t see her height as a benefit.
The first thing she wanted to find were pants that were not boot cut and would fit her inseam. I found this useful site Search By Inseam, http://searchbyinseam.com. This site allowed me to put in her inseam and sort the pants by style. I found her skinny jeans, and distressed jeans. Joe’s had some cute jeans that she really liked. There were a lot of options to choose from.
Next was finding tops that were long enough. I have another client who is the same height, and we have had luck at Banana Republic, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdae’s, and Anthropologie. Two other places that I looked at were Ann Taylor Loft and J. Crew, they both sell items that come in tall. Looking at an item I can get a pretty good idea if the item will be long enough. However, it all comes down to trying on the items to see if they are long enough.
One we had outfits picked out, I found her a few pairs of shoes. She didn’t want anything that was really high, but a little heel. These were pretty easy to find at Bloomingdale’s.
She was happy and surprised with everything that I found, and realized that there a lot of great options out there.
